Editor’s Postscript from Our Staff ～Yamashita’s Ramblings～
Greetings! This is Yamashita, in charge of our newsletter.
One of my hobbies is wearing kimono, so I recently visited Inuyama in traditional attire.
It wasn’t an old-fashioned style, though—it had lace elements for a modern twist. Paired with a skirt, it created a rock-inspired hakama look.
Above all, it’s a comfortable choice for those of us who enjoy strolling and snacking without feeling constricted around the waist.
These days, even young people are creatively arranging their kimonos, making them super cute to the point where I can only exclaim, “Wow, that’s adorable!”
At kimono markets, you’ll find everything from frills and lace to eccentric and traditional patterns—each style is unique. Needless to say, my wallet’s drawstring ends up quite loose.
The other day, I discovered a convenient item that simply zips up to secure the obi (kimono sash).
I’m amazed at how easy it is to wear kimono casually now. And best of all, it’s comfortable enough for driving, so give it a try!
Kimono, too, has evolved with the times.
As it becomes more casual, we might even see a “kimono version of Uni●lo” appear someday.
