Women’s gatherings are always a hit with

Washi Korokoro Making Workshops

We recently held an on-site workshop again

It was a huge success

━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━…━

This week, we were invited to a training workshop by a group of women involved in livestock in the Chuno area of Gifu Prefecture.

It was our first on-site workshop in a while.

We had been declining off-site requests due to staff availability,

but since this was a nearby event,

we decided to take it on.

It was a diverse group of women ranging from their 20s to their 70s,

and the chosen theme was perfect—

they could make Washi Korokoro rabbits, maneki-neko (beckoning cats), or owls.

So the workshop kicked off with plenty of excitement.

Each doll comes in an easy-to-assemble kit,

so some participants started opening their kit even before the instructions,

reading the included blueprint.

Though these kits assemble quite simply,

we brought along extra decorative cutouts as a bonus,

so everyone had a fun time selecting which ones to use

and deciding how to decorate their creations.

Seeing them happily pondering their designs

was very endearing.

We are glad we prepared all those cute cutouts.

It was heartwarming to watch participants compliment each other’s finished pieces.

Some of the ladies said, “That was so much fun—we’ll definitely visit your shop!”

We’re looking forward to seeing them soon.

Please do come! We’ll be waiting.

On-site workshop scene

Our customers’ works

Washi Korokoro Workshops are especially popular with PTAs, agricultural cooperative women’s groups, and other volunteer organizations for women’s activities.

For anyone organizing new school-year events, or for travel agencies wanting to propose a unique cultural experience, this is ideal!

Stretching across the Nagara River in bright red, Mino Bridge is the oldest modern suspension bridge in Japan. Completed in 1916 (Taisho 5), it is historically significant for achieving the nation’s largest span at the time. The bridge is 113m in length with a 116m span, and 3.1m in width, open only to pedestrians and bicycles for a safe crossing. Enjoy strolling across and taking in the surrounding mountains and crystal-clear waters of the Nagara River. Renovations were completed on March 9, 2021, adding nighttime illumination that attracts many photographers after dark.

Experience Mino Washi in person

Learn about Mino’s heritage and industries

Mino City’s immersive tourism plan

━…━…━…━…━…━…━

These days, hands-on activities are popular for school trips.

Here in the region, you’ll find paper-making experiences, river cruises,

and so much more.

Our shop offers an industry-focused workshop,

spotlighting Mino Washi, where you can create washi crafts.

Our popular “Washi Korokoro” (traditional roly-poly doll) workshop includes 30 varieties.

We also have washi plates, pen holders, and in warmer seasons, washi fans (uchiwa) — all very popular hands-on activities.

Groups of up to 45 people can do the workshop simultaneously.

For groups larger than 45, we do split sessions;

but our shop is located right in the atmospheric “Udatsu no Agaru Townscape,”

a preserved district that makes you feel like you’ve traveled back to the Edo period.

Between rotations, you can visit the old Imaike residence, the Kosaka Brewery, the Akari Art Hall, and more.

Enjoy the historic atmosphere while you wait—there’s plenty to see.

Mingle with traditional and modern arts as you wander the streets.

Each workshop session lasts about 40–60 minutes.

Enjoy a leisurely town walk, shopping, and a hands-on Mino Washi craft workshop, making for a richly satisfying experience.

You can also visit the Mino Washi no Sato Kaikan (Mino Washi Museum) to learn hand paper-making techniques.

They have extensive exhibits on the history and manufacturing process of Mino Washi,

making it perfect for educational travel or social studies field trips.

By actually making your own paper, you can deeply appreciate traditional craftsmanship.

Did you know this region’s washi tradition

is recognized as a “Japan Heritage” due to its long history along the Nagara River watershed?
