Ishikawa Shigyo Co., Ltd. was established in 1902 (Meiji 35) in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, an area renowned for producing Mino washi (traditional Japanese paper). Through our corporate philosophy of “Handcrafted Washi Creations,” we plan, manufacture, wholesale, and sell a range of Mino washi novelty items for both the domestic and international corporate market. By blending traditional Japanese crafts with entertainment elements, we plan, develop, manufacture, and market our products. We hold the top record in the number of Mino washi brand certifications in Japan (and worldwide), reflecting our dedication to high quality and innovation in Japanese gift and stationery wholesale.

Since our founding in 1902, we’ve worked extensively with Mino washi, enabling us to produce these proud creations!

They’re a big hit at our direct retail shops!

We continue to introduce new yuzen-style patterns of Mino washi!

Customers praise them as “beautiful,” “premium,” “amazing color,” “perfect thickness,” and more.

They can be used for a wide variety of crafts and souvenirs: book covers, small boxes, accessories, decorative screens, backdrops, scrapbooking, you name it.

Our Mino washi is hand-dyed in Kyoto, one color at a time, using wooden blocks and specially mixed dyes. Because washi is so receptive to dye, these prints feature vivid color details that fabric alone can’t replicate.

Each color block requires a specialized stencil and color preparation, applied by hand by skilled artisans.

The result is a piece of traditional craft, harnessing centuries of accumulated expertise.

It’s light, thin, and remarkably strong.

Message from the Editor ~Sato’s Castle~

Greetings from Sato, and thank you for your continued support.
I’m known for “running full speed” in many ways.

The other day, I was driving along a river road for the first time with clear visibility when suddenly, a voice called out from a side road, “Stop right there!”
Sure enough, it was a black-and-white patrol car pulling me over.
I had no idea why I was being flagged, but as soon as I saw that squad car, I realized,
“Ah…there goes my gold driver’s license.”
Turns out I had missed a stop sign. The officer explained, but all I could muster was
“Come on, that sign was practically invisible for a first-timer!”—though there’s really no excuse.
(That’s precisely why the patrol was lying in wait, I guess.)
Anyway, I’m just grateful it wasn’t a bigger incident.
I’m sharing this in our newsletter to remind myself and others—please keep an eye on those traffic signs!

Now, on to our 3rd Round of new products!
When it comes to new product development, there’s no “stop sign” for me! I’ll keep racing ahead!!!
We’re introducing new summer items like “uchiwa fans,” “glass wind chimes,” and “folding fans (both Mino washi and silk).”
